Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon dish soap
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • as needed food coloring (optional)
  • various small decorations (buttons, mini hats, eyes, etc.) For personalizing the snowman
  • 1 tray or large plate To contain the mess

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1/3 cup of water until it forms a sand-like consistency.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of dish soap to make it bubbly and fluffy.

Snowman Assembly

  • Mold the baking soda mixture into three snowball shapes (big, medium, and small) for the body of your snowman.
  • Place them on a tray or large plate.
  • Get creative! Use buttons, tiny hats, and eyes to decorate your snowman.

The Growing Reaction

  • Carefully drizzle 1 teaspoon of white vinegar over the top of your snowman.
  • Watch as the reaction occurs—baking soda and vinegar create fizzing bubbles that make your snowman “grow” and froth over!

Notes
