Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of baking soda and 1/3 cup of water.
  • Stir until the mixture is thick and pasty.

Shaping the Trees

  • Use your hands to mold the mixture into tree shapes—create branches and peaks to resemble winter trees.

Setting Up for Growth

  • Place the shaped trees on a tray lined with plastic wrap to catch any overflow.
  • If desired, add drops of food coloring to enhance visual appeal.

Creating the Vinegar Reaction

  • Slowly drizzle white vinegar over the trees and observe the fizzing and bubbling reaction.

Observation and Decorating

  • Allow the reaction to continue for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Let the trees dry thoroughly after the reaction has subsided.
  • Once dry, decorate with glitter or sequins for extra sparkle.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring for multicolored trees, adjust the mixture for different tree sizes, and consider adding essential oils for scent.
