Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Baking soda Used as the base for the painting.
  • 2-3 tablespoons Water To mix with baking soda.
  • Small amount White vinegar Used to create the fizzy reaction.
  • Few drops Food coloring To add color to the vinegar.
  • 1 Canvas or heavy paper Surface for painting.
  • As needed Paintbrushes For applying the baking soda mixture.
  • 1 Dropper or spoon For applying the colored vinegar.
  • As needed Small cups or bowls For mixing the ingredients.

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water. Stir until the mixture is a thick paste.
  • Use a paintbrush to apply the baking soda mixture to your canvas or paper. Spread it evenly for the best results.

Create the Colorful Reaction

  • In separate small cups, pour a small amount of vinegar.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to each cup of vinegar. Stir to combine.
  • Using a dropper or spoon, drip the colored vinegar onto the baking soda. Watch the fizzing reaction unfold!

Observe & Enjoy

  • Notice how the colored vinegar fizzes and expands on the baking soda, creating vibrant colors and interesting patterns.
  • Allow your artwork to dry completely before displaying it.

Notes

You can try mixing different colors of vinegar to create new shades or use glitter to decorate once dried. Experiment with different amounts of water to alter the texture of the baking soda paint.
