Instructions
Preparation
- Ensure you have all materials ready. Lay down the plastic tablecloth to protect your work surface.
Creating the Base
- Spread a generous layer of baking soda onto your watercolor paper or canvas.
- Use your hands or a spoon to create textures or shapes within the baking soda.
Mixing Colors
- In small containers, mix vinegar with a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolors.
- Stir gently to create vibrant colors.
Painting
- Using a paintbrush or dropper, apply the colored vinegar onto the baking soda.
- Watch as it fizzes and bubbles, creating beautiful patterns and reactions.
Drying
- Once you’ve created your masterpiece, set it aside to dry completely.
- The fizzing will settle, leaving colorful designs on your paper or canvas.
Notes
Try adding glitter to the baking soda for a sparkly effect. Experiment with different amounts of vinegar for varying bubble reactions. Instead of white vinegar, use apple cider vinegar for a slightly different color palette. Use a sponge instead of a brush for a different texture.
