Ingredients
  

For the painting

  • 2 tablespoons Baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon Water Used to create the baking soda mixture.
  • various colors Watercolors (liquid or powdered) Choose your favorite colors for painting.
  • as needed Vinegar Used to activate the baking soda for a fizzy reaction.
  • as needed Liquid dish soap Helps the mixture spread smoothly.

Materials

  • some Plastic cups or containers For mixing the baking soda solution.
  • 1 Paintbrushes For applying the baking soda mixture and watercolors.
  • 1 Paper Watercolor paper works best.
  • optional 1 Plastic squeeze bottle For applying vinegar.
  • 1 Plastic spoon For mixing ingredients.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all materials in a clean workspace.
  • Set out your watercolor paper; a thicker paper is better to handle the liquids.

Creating the Mixture

  • In a plastic cup, mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of water.
  • Stir it until you reach a paste-like consistency.

Painting

  • Use a paintbrush to apply the baking soda mixture onto your paper.
  • Experiment with different shapes and designs; you might enjoy the texture it creates!
  • Once the baking soda is dry, paint over it with watercolors.
  • Notice how the vibrant colors merge with the baking soda, creating an interesting effect.

Activating the Art

  • If you want to see a fizzy reaction, use a squeeze bottle to drop vinegar onto your painted areas.
  • Watch as the colors fizz and bubble, adding a unique dimension to your artwork!

Finishing Up

  • Let your masterpiece dry completely before displaying it or adding any other embellishments.

Notes

Experiment with different watercolor palettes, add essential oils for aroma, and use various tools to apply the baking soda mixture. This project is non-toxic and safe for children, though supervision is recommended.
