Ingredients
  

Painting Materials

  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1 cup White vinegar
  • As needed Food coloring or liquid watercolors
  • 2-3 pieces Paintbrushes Various sizes for different effects
  • 1 sheet Paper (watercolor paper works best)
  • 1-2 cups Cups for mixing
  • 1 tray Tray or surface to catch drips

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Choose a flat, protected surface for your painting project.
  • Lay down newspaper or a plastic tablecloth to catch spills.

Mixing

  • In a bowl, combine a few tablespoons of baking soda.
  • Slowly add a small amount of water to create a thick paste.
  • Spread the paste onto your paper using a paintbrush or your fingers for texture.

Adding Color

  • In separate cups, mix vinegar with a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolors.
  • Use different colors to create a vibrant palette.

Painting

  • Dip your paintbrush into the colored vinegar.
  • Gently apply the vinegar to the baking soda paste.
  • Watch as the mixture fizzes and creates beautiful textures and colors!

Drying

  • Allow your artwork to dry completely before displaying it.
  • You can enhance your painting with additional layers once it’s dry.

Notes

Customize colors by experimenting with different food color mixes. Mix in salt or other textured elements in your baking soda paste for added dimension. Use cookie cutters to create fun shapes from the baking soda paste before painting.
