Preparation

  • Cut cardboard into tree shapes using scissors, ensuring a variety of sizes for a more dynamic forest look.
  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water and stir until fully dissolved.
  • Divide the solution into smaller bowls and add different food coloring to create a rainbow of colors.

Painting

  • Use paintbrushes or droppers to apply the colored solutions onto the cardboard trees, encouraging various colors for depth and texture.

Crystallization Process

  • Place the painted trees on wax paper or in a shallow dish.
  • Optional: Sprinkle salt around the trees to observe different crystal formations and allow the trees to dry overnight.

Observation

  • After drying, check the transformed trees now adorned with beautiful crystals and discuss the process of crystallization with the kids.

Notes
