  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 mold or ice cube tray
  • 1 parchment paper or tray for drying

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and vinegar. Watch closely as the mixture fizzes and bubbles.
  • Once the fizzing subsides, slowly mix in the water until the mixture is smooth.

Adding Color

  • If you wish to add some color to your treasure rocks, mix in a few drops of food coloring and stir thoroughly.

Filling Molds

  • Spoon the mixture into your molds or ice cube tray, filling each compartment about halfway.
  • Drop a small treasure into the center of each mold and cover it with more of the baking soda mixture. Press down gently.

Drying

  • Place the filled molds on a parchment paper-lined tray and let them dry for at least 24 hours until they are solid.

Revealing Treasure

  • Once dried, carefully remove the rocks from the molds. You can now use a hammer or give them a gentle tap to reveal the hidden treasures inside!

Notes

Customize treasures by swapping in small toys, crystals, or items based on interests; add essential oils for scent; and use natural dyes for eco-friendliness.
