Ingredients

Materials

  • 10 pieces Coffee filters (white or brown)
  • 1 piece Scissors
  • 1 roll Floral wire available at craft stores
  • 1 roll Green floral tape optional, for added detail
  • 5 pieces Water-based markers or liquid dye vibrant colors to make your flowers pop
  • 1 piece Paintbrush if using liquid dye
  • 1 piece A small container for dyeing the flowers
  • 1 piece Wire cutters if needed for trimming the floral wire

Instructions

Preparation and Coloring

  • Find a quiet spot where you can comfortably spread out your materials. Lay down some newspaper or a cloth to protect your surface.
  • Using markers or liquid dye, add color to your coffee filters. You can create soft washes of color or vibrant swirls and allow them to dry completely.

Shaping and Assembling

  • Once dry, take one filter at a time and pinch it at the center, folding the edges to create a petal shape.
  • Use floral wire to secure the center of the flower, wrapping the wire gently but firmly around the base of the petals.
  • If desired, use green floral tape to enhance the stems, wrapping it around the wire.

Finishing Touches

  • Arrange your peonies in a vase, enjoying the beauty of your creations. Reflect a moment on the joy of crafting.

Notes

Explore color blending and add textures with lace or fabric for more depth. This activity can be a fun group project and allows for seasonal displays with different colors.
