Bioplastic Sun Catchers - Purple Dream

Materials
- 1 packet Food-grade gelatin
- 2 cups Water
- few drops Natural food coloring (purple)
- 1 Silicone mold (shapes of your choice)
- as needed Straws (for creating hanging holes)
- 1 Mixing bowl
- 1 Spoon
- 1 Measuring cups
Instructions
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of water with the gelatin powder.
- Stir the mixture until the gelatin completely dissolves, creating a clear solution.
- Introduce a few drops of natural purple food coloring.
- Mix well until the desired shade is achieved.
- Carefully pour the gelatin solution into silicone molds.
- Fill them to a level that suits your design.
- Before the mixture sets, insert a straw horizontally into the top of each mold to create a hole for hanging later on.
- Let the molds sit at room temperature for 4-6 hours until fully set. You can also refrigerate the molds for faster setting.
- Once set, carefully remove the sun catchers from the molds.
- Remove the straw, and your hanging hole is ready for a ribbon!
Notes
Experiment with different colors using other natural food colorings or add dried flowers/herbs for texture. Use any flexible container if you don’t have silicone molds. Swap gelatin with agar-agar for a vegan alternative.
