Ingredients
  

Bioplastic Mixture

  • 1 cup Cornstarch
  • 4 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Glycerin Can be substituted with vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (optional) For adding vibrant hues

Additional Materials

  • Dried flowers or petals Recommended for best results
  • Wax paper
  • A mixing bowl
  • A saucepan
  • A stirring spoon
  • Cookie cutters or mold
  • Scissors

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch and water.
  • Add glycerin and mix well until smooth.
  • Heat the mixture in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Cooking

  • Continue stirring until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Adding Color & Flowers

  • Optionally, add food coloring for vibrant hues.
  • Spread the mixture evenly onto a sheet of wax paper.
  • Gently press your dried flowers or petals into the mixture, arranging them as desired.

Shaping the Sun Catchers

  • Use cookie cutters or molds to cut out shapes from the mixture.
  • Carefully lift the shapes using a spatula.

Drying

  • Allow the sun catchers to dry for 24-48 hours at room temperature.
  • Once fully dry, peel them off the wax paper.

Displaying

  • Hang your sun catchers in a window where they can catch the light.
  • Enjoy the radiant colors and shadows they create!

Notes

Experiment with different flowers, colors, and shapes for unique designs. Incorporate biodegradable glitter for added sparkle.
