Ingredients
  

Suncatcher Materials

  • 1 cup Bioplastic (such as cornstarch-based plastic or gelatin) Use cornstarch-based plastic or gelatin.
  • 1 cup Water Combine with bioplastic in a 1:1 ratio.
  • as needed Food coloring Optional for vibrant suncatchers.
  • as needed Wax paper or silicone mat For pouring the mixture.
  • 1 Cookie cutters or stencil shapes For creating shapes from the mixture.
  • 1 piece String or fishing line For hanging the suncatchers.
  • 1 piece Small paintbrush Optional for applying color.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine bioplastic with water using a 1:1 ratio.
  • If using gelatin, dissolve it in warm water first.

Adding Color

  • Stir in a few drops of food coloring for vibrant suncatchers.

Pouring the Mixture

  • Pour the mixture onto the wax paper or silicone mat.
  • Spread it out to your desired thickness.

Creating Shapes

  • Use cookie cutters or stencils to cut shapes while the mixture is still wet.
  • Gently press into the mixture to create outlines.

Drying

  • Let the bioplastic dry completely which may take several hours or overnight.
  • Notice the texture change as it cures.

Adding Hanging String

  • Once completely dry, carefully remove the shapes.
  • Poke a small hole at the top and thread string or fishing line through.

Notes

Customize colors, experiment with various shapes, and consider using natural dyes for coloring.
