Instructions

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of corn starch, 1 cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup.
  • Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and even.

Cooking

  • Place the saucepan on medium heat and stir continuously.
  • Watch as the mixture begins to thicken; this should take about 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat once it reaches a gel-like consistency.

Coloring and Shaping

  • Divide the mixture into separate bowls (if using multiple colors).
  • Add food coloring to each bowl and mix well until you achieve your desired shades.
  • Spread the colored mixture onto a piece of wax or parchment paper in a thin, even layer using a spatula.
  • Use cookie cutters or a knife to create fun shapes.

Drying

  • Allow the shapes to dry overnight at room temperature.
  • For quicker drying, place them in a low-temperature oven (around 200°F / 93°C) for 2-3 hours.

Finishing Touches

  • Once dried, carefully peel off the shapes and hang them in your window to catch the sunlight!

Notes

Tips: Experiment by mixing different food colors for unique shades, and add biodegradable glitter for extra sparkle. Once completely dry, you can paint or add stickers for more personalized flair!
