Ingredients
  

Bioplastic Mixture

  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon glycerin Can be left out, but may affect flexibility
  • Food coloring (various colors) For achieving different colors

Tools and Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper or silicone mat For protection of your work surface
  • 1 Cookie cutters or shapes for cutting
  • 1 Paintbrush Optional for additional designs
  • 1 Hole punch Optional for hanging the suncatchers

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and lay down parchment paper or a silicone mat to protect it.
  • Gather all your materials for easy access.

Make the Bioplastic Mixture

  • In a saucepan, combine corn starch, water, vinegar, and glycerin.
  • Stir the mixture over low heat until it thickens into a gelatinous texture.

Add Color

  • Divide the thickened bioplastic into bowls and add food coloring.
  • Stir well to achieve your desired color intensity.

Shape Your Suncatchers

  • Pour the colored bioplastic onto the prepared baking sheet in a thin layer.
  • Use cookie cutters to create shapes or freehand designs.
  • Optionally, use a paintbrush for patterns or textures.

Create Hanging Holes (Optional)

  • Use a hole punch to create a hole at the top of each shape if desired.

Drying Time

  • Allow suncatchers to dry for about 24 hours until completely solid.
  • Once dry, gently peel them off the parchment paper.

Notes

Customize colors, add biodegradable glitter, and experiment with shapes for seasonal themes.
