Instructions
Preparation
- Start by mixing 1 cup of corn starch with 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar in your cooking pot.
- Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture thickens—about 3-5 minutes.
Coloring
- Once the mixture resembles a thick paste, divide it into separate bowls.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix well.
Shaping
- On a flat surface covered with wax or parchment paper, spoon out the colored bioplastic mixture.
- Flatten it out into desired shapes or use cookie cutters to create fun designs.
Drying
- Let the shaped suncatchers dry for 24-48 hours, or until they become firm and completely hard.
Finishing Touches
- Carefully peel the dried suncatchers from the wax paper.
- For added details, paint or decorate as desired and use string or fishing line to hang them.
Notes
Experiment with different shapes and colors. Natural dyes can also be utilized. They should be displayed indoors or in sheltered areas.
