Ingredients
  

Suncatcher Mixture

  • 1 cup cornstarch Base for the suncatcher
  • 1 cup water To mix with cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup Adds shine and texture
  • Food coloring (various colors) To achieve desired colors

Equipment

  • 1 frying pan For heating the mixture
  • 1 cooking spoon For stirring the mixture
  • 1 cookie cutters or stencils To shape the suncatchers
  • 1 sheet wax paper To pour the mixture onto
  • 1 spray non-stick spray To prevent sticking to the wax paper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a frying pan, combine 1 cup of cornstarch, 1 cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup.
  • Stir the mixture over medium heat, watching for thickening.

Coloring

  • Once the mixture starts to thicken, remove it from the heat.
  • Divide the mixture into small bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each.

Shaping

  • Lay wax paper on a flat surface and spray lightly with non-stick spray.
  • Pour colored mixtures onto the wax paper, using cookie cutters or stencils to create shapes.
  • Use a toothpick or skewer to poke a hole at the top for hanging.

Drying

  • Allow the suncatchers to dry for 24-48 hours until firm.

Displaying

  • Carefully peel off the wax paper.
  • Hang your suncatchers in windows or outdoors to catch the light!

Notes

Tips: Customize colors by mixing food colors; add glitter or dried flowers for extra flair; use different cookie cutters for holiday themes. Store the unused mixture immediately after preparation.
