Ingredients
  

Base Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon corn oil
  • a few drops food coloring (optional) Use natural dyes if preferred.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of corn oil.
  • Whisk or stir the mixture until it’s smooth and free of lumps, achieving a milky consistency.

Adding Color

  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring into the mixture.
  • Mix well until you reach your desired shade.

Cooking the Mixture

  • Pour the mixture into a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Stir continuously until it thickens and resembles a glue-like texture.
  • Once thickened, remove from heat.

Shaping the Suncatchers

  • Lay a piece of wax or parchment paper on your workspace.
  • Use cookie cutters or templates to shape your bioplastic, ensuring to create holes for hanging if desired.

Setting

  • Allow the shaped suncatchers to cool completely and harden, which will take about 24 hours.
  • Once dry, carefully peel them off the paper.

Notes

For added creativity, consider mixing in biodegradable glitter during the coloring step, or pressing leaves and flowers for natural designs. Variations include experimenting with different shapes and seasonal motifs.
