  • 1 cup Cornstarch Easy to find
  • 1 cup Water Warm water preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Glycerin Often available at pharmacies
  • To taste Food coloring Optional, for personalization
  • 1 Wax paper For setting the suncatchers
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Pot for stovetop use
  • 1 Spoon for stirring
  • Optional Cookie cutters or other molding shapes For shaping your suncatchers

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, blend 1 cup of cornstarch with 1 cup of water until smooth.
  • Introduce 1 tablespoon of glycerin into the mixture and stir gently.
  • Transfer the mixture to a pot and place it on the stovetop over low heat, stirring continuously.
  • Once the mixture thickens to a soft, pliable consistency, add a few drops of food coloring to personalize it.
  • Pour the mixture onto a sheet of wax paper and use cookie cutters to create shapes or pour it out for a free-form design.
  • Allow your creations to rest for several hours or overnight until they firm up.
  • Carefully peel the suncatchers from the wax paper and find a sunny spot to hang them.

Notes

Store suncatchers in a cool, dry place. If they lose shine, gently clean with a damp cloth. Experiment with colors and shapes for a unique touch.
