Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 pack Bioplastics (available at craft stores or online) Choose a type that's suitable for melting.
  • optional Food coloring For adding vibrant hues.
  • 1 set Cookie cutters or stencils To create desired shapes.
  • 1 sheet Baking sheet lined with parchment paper For baking the shapes.
  • 1 Oven For melting the bioplastic.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting the bioplastic.
  • 1 each Drinking straws For making holes in the shapes.
  • 1 each Paintbrush For spreading food coloring.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to a gentle 350°F (175°C).
  • Cut the bioplastic into desired shapes using cookie cutters or freehand.
  • If using food coloring, apply it with a paintbrush to the cut-out shapes.
  • Poke a hole at the top of each shape with a straw for hanging.
  • Place the colored shapes on a lined baking sheet.

Baking

  • Carefully place the baking sheet in the oven and monitor closely as the bioplastic melts.
  • After about 10 minutes, check for bubbling to determine readiness.
  • Turn off the oven and let the shapes cool inside.

Finishing Touches

  • Once cooled, gently remove the shapes from the baking sheet.
  • Trim any sharp edges with scissors if necessary.
  • Thread string or fishing line through the holes and hang your suncatchers by a window.

Notes

Care for your suncatchers by storing them in a cool, dry place. Clean with a damp cloth if needed. Enjoy seasonal variations by swapping colors and shapes.
