Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons glycerin
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • optional food coloring

  • wax paper
  • cookie cutters (various shapes)
  • a mixing bowl
  • a spoon
  • a baking sheet or a flat surface to dry the suncatchers

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of corn syrup, and 2 tablespoons of glycerin.
  • Stir gently until well mixed.

Mixing Ingredients

  • Gradually sprinkle in 1 cup of cornstarch while stirring.
  • Mix thoroughly to eliminate lumps, achieving a smooth, thick paste.

Adding Color

  • If desired, mix in a few drops of food coloring to achieve your preferred hue.
  • Enjoy the vibrant swirl of colors as you stir!

Shaping the Suncatchers

  • On a piece of wax paper, pour a small amount of the mixture.
  • Use cookie cutters to create shapes, ensuring they’re thick enough to hold without breaking.

Drying Process

  • Place the wax paper on a baking sheet or flat surface.
  • Allow the suncatchers to dry for 24-48 hours until completely firm.

Displaying Your Creation

  • Once dry, carefully peel the suncatchers from the wax paper.
  • Hang them in windows or on a garden trellis to enjoy the play of light!

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and layers by pouring colored mixtures into the same mold. Use glitter or biodegradable sparkles for added decoration.
