Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather your bioplastic sheets and cut them into the desired shapes using cookie cutters. The thickness should be around 1/8 inch for the best results.

Coloring

  • In separate containers, mix natural food coloring with water until you achieve your desired shades.
  • Use eye drops for precise application of the colored water onto your bioplastic shapes.

Drying

  • Dip or paint your bioplastic shapes with the colored water. Place the colored shapes onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Allow them to dry in a warm, sunny spot or in an oven set to the lowest temperature for 1–2 hours until completely set.

Hanging

  • Once dry, carefully remove the suncatchers from the parchment paper and use string or wire to hang them in a sunny window.

Notes

Try layering colors or creating gradients for a unique effect. Substitute bioplastic sheets with other biodegradable materials like gelatin. Use different cookie cutter shapes to create a themed display.
