Ingredients
  

For the Suncatchers

  • 5 pieces Blue crayons (or other colors as desired) Feel free to mix colors for custom designs.
  • 1 sheet Wax paper This is essential for the melting process.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper To prevent sticking during the melting process.
  • 1 baking sheet Baking sheet Used to hold the wax paper with crayon shavings.
  • 1 unit Iron Adult supervision is required while using.
  • 1 unit Scissors To cut out shapes after melting.
  • 2 pieces Flower-shaped cookie cutters (optional) Use for shaping your suncatchers.
  • 1 pieces Hole punch For making a hole for hanging.
  • 1 length String To hang the suncatcher once finished.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel the wax paper off the blue crayons.
  • Use a sharpener or knife to create shavings.

Melting

  • Lay a sheet of wax paper on a baking sheet.
  • Spread the blue crayon shavings onto one half of the wax paper. You can use cookie cutters for flower shapes if desired.
  • Fold the other half of the wax paper over the shavings.
  • Place parchment paper on top to prevent sticking.
  • Carefully place the baking sheet in the oven for 5-10 minutes, just until the shavings melt.

Shaping

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Once cool, peel off the wax paper and cut out flower shapes using scissors or cookie cutters.

Finishing Touches

  • Use a hole punch to make a hole at the top of each suncatcher.
  • Thread a string through the hole for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with different colors for themed decorations, and consider using various cookie cutter shapes. Adult supervision is required when melting crayons.
