  • 1 piece Wax paper or parchment paper
  • 1 piece A pencil sharpener or a knife (for shaving crayons) Adult supervision required.
  • 1 piece Iron Adult supervision required.
  • 1 piece A piece of cardboard To protect surfaces.
  • 1 pair Scissors
  • 1 piece (optional) Clear contact paper for adhesion Optional for adhering to window.
  • 1 piece (optional) Decorated paper for framing Optional for framing your suncatcher.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Shave Crayons: Use a pencil sharpener or a knife to shave blue crayons into small pieces. Take care not to injure yourself if using a knife.

Layering

  • Create Layers: Lay a piece of wax or parchment paper on a flat surface. Sprinkle blue crayon shavings onto one half of the paper, arranging them in playful patterns.

Ironing

  • Seal the Crayons: Fold the wax paper over the crayon shavings, creating a pocket. Place a piece of cardboard on top to protect surfaces.
  • Melt the Crayon Pieces: Gently iron over the cardboard for about 10-15 seconds. You’ll see the crayons melt and merge into beautiful blue shapes.

Finishing Touches

  • Cut Out Shapes: Remove the melted crayon piece from the wax paper once cooled. Cut out flower or other fun shapes.
  • Adhere (Optional): If desired, use clear contact paper to adhere your suncatcher to a window or create a frame from decorated paper.

Notes

For variations, try different colors or shapes to make each suncatcher unique. Experiment with layering techniques for depth in color and create seasonal themes.
