Materials

  • 5 pieces Blue crayons (any shade) Feel free to mix different shades for more vibrancy.
  • 2 sheets Wax paper or parchment paper Enough to create a sandwich with the crayons.
  • 1 unit Iron Set to the lowest setting for gentle melting.
  • 1 unit Cookie sheet or flat surface To catch drips while melting.
  • 1 unit Scissors For shaping the finished suncatcher.
  • 1 unit Clear adhesive Optional, for hanging the suncatchers.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your iron to a low setting.
  • Peel the paper off the blue crayons.
  • Break the crayons into small pieces and place them into a small bowl.
  • Cut two pieces of wax or parchment paper large enough to create a sandwich with the crayons in between.
  • Spread the broken crayon pieces evenly between the sheets of paper.
  • Place the top sheet over the crayons and put the wax paper sandwich on a flat surface.

Melting

  • Gently press down with the warm iron over the top layer.
  • Move slowly, letting the heat melt the crayons beneath.
  • Once the colors have melted and merged, carefully lift the top sheet away.

Finishing

  • Allow the melted crayon suncatchers to cool for a few minutes.
  • Trim any uneven edges with scissors.
  • Hang them in a sunny spot or place them against a window.

Notes

Store away from direct heat and sunlight to keep colors vibrant. For reusability, peel them off gently from windows.
