Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 box Blue crayons (or any color of your choice)
  • 2 sheets Wax paper
  • 1 unit Iron Used for melting crayons
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper (optional) Protects the iron and provides a smooth melting surface
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting suncatcher shapes
  • 1 unit Hole punch (optional) For creating a hanging option
  • 1 unit String or suction cups For hanging the finished suncatchers

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and gather all your materials. Lay down newspaper to catch any spills.
  • Remove the wrappers from blue crayons (or any colors you wish to use) and break them into small pieces (about 1-inch chunks).
  • Place one sheet of wax paper on your work surface as the base.
  • Spread the crayon pieces evenly across the wax paper, keeping them at least an inch apart.
  • Place another sheet of wax paper on top of the crayon pieces.

Melting

  • Preheat the iron to a low setting. Optionally, cover the top layer of wax paper with parchment paper.
  • Gently press the iron on the parchment paper, moving in circular motions for about 30 seconds. Monitor closely to avoid burning.

Finishing Touches

  • Once melted and blended, let the wax paper cool.
  • After cooling, use scissors to cut out shapes, such as circles or hearts.
  • For hanging, use a hole punch at the top (optional) and thread some string or attach a suction cup.

Notes

You can mix blue with other colors for unique designs and experiment with different types of wax paper for varied effects. Creating themed collections is a fun idea!
