Ingredients
  

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 cup unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups water Divided into one for the gelatin mixture and one for mixing color.
  • 10-12 drops blue food coloring Adjust to achieve desired shade.

Tools & Accessories

  • various shapes cookie cutters To create different shapes.
  • 1 sheet plastic wrap or wax paper To line the baking sheet.
  • 1 sheet baking sheet or tray To pour the gelatin mixture.
  • 1 straw straw For making holes in suncatchers.
  • optional scissors For any additional cutting if needed.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, heat 1 cup of water over medium heat.
  • Sprinkle in the gelatin, stirring until completely dissolved.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Adding Color

  • Mix in 10-12 drops of blue food coloring until the desired shade is achieved.
  • Explore and get creative with colors!

Pouring and Setting

  • Pour the blue gelatin mixture onto the baking sheet lined with plastic wrap or wax paper.
  • Use cookie cutters to create desired shapes or simply pour it in to set as a flat piece.
  • If hanging the suncatchers, use a straw to poke holes in the shapes before it sets.

Chill

  • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours, or until the gelatin is firm to the touch.

Display

  • Once set, carefully peel off the plastic wrap or wax paper.
  • Hang your suncatchers in a sunny window and watch as they illuminate!

Notes

Explore mixing in other colors for a rainbow effect! You can also add edible glitter for extra sparkle.
