Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 sheet Clear plastic sheets or translucent colored film
  • a few drops drops Blue food coloring or blue resin dye
  • 1 piece Scissors
  • 1 piece Pencil
  • 1 piece Cookie cutter in raindrop shape (or template)
  • 1 piece Hole punch (optional) Optional for easier hanging
  • 1 piece Fishing line or string (for hanging)
  • 1 bottle Clear glue or craft adhesive
  • 1 piece Paintbrush (optional) Optional for applying color

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface for crafting and lay down newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your work area.

Create the Raindrop Shapes

  • Using a pencil, trace the cookie cutter onto the clear plastic, creating multiple raindrop outlines.
  • Cut out the raindrop shapes with scissors, ensuring smooth edges.

Color the Raindrops

  • If using food coloring, mix a few drops with a small amount of water.
  • Use a paintbrush to add color to one side of each raindrop. For more opacity, apply multiple layers of color.
  • Allow them to dry completely.

Assemble the Suncatchers

  • Once dry, apply a thin layer of clear glue to the back of each raindrop for a glossy finish.
  • Optionally, punch a hole at the top of each raindrop for easier hanging.

Hang and Display

  • Use fishing line or string to hang the suncatchers in windows where sunlight can dance through them. Adjust the height for the best display.

Notes

Try different colors, add sparkle with glitter, or create a mobile by arranging several suncatchers together.
