Preparation

  • Begin by bringing three cups of water to a boil in your saucepan. Focus on the steam rising as the water heats.
  • Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat. Carefully add the Borax powder, stirring gently until it dissolves.
  • Take your pipe cleaners and twist them into flower shapes. Allow your imagination to guide you.
  • Tie a piece of string around the base of the flower if you wish to hang it later.
  • Submerge your flower into the hot Borax solution, ensuring it is fully immersed.
  • Place your stick or pencil across the top of the jar to suspend the flower, ensuring that it doesn’t touch the bottom.
  • Let the jar sit undisturbed in a quiet corner, allowing the crystals to develop.
  • After several hours or overnight, gently lift your flower from the liquid and allow it to dry softly on a paper towel.
  • Once fully dry, your Borax Crystal Flower is ready to be displayed.

Notes

These crystals can be cherished pieces; store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent them from fading.
