Instructions

Preparation

  • Take a pipe cleaner and twist it into the shape of a seashell, ensuring it has enough surface area for the crystals to grow.
  • In a heat-safe container, boil 2 cups of water.
  • Once boiling, carefully add 1 cup of borax to the water.
  • Stir the mixture until the borax is completely dissolved. The solution should be clear.
  • If you want colored crystals, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir.
  • Tie a piece of string to your shaped pipe cleaner and suspend it into the borax solution inside your jar or bowl, ensuring it doesn’t touch the bottom.

Crystallization

  • Leave the jar in a cool place undisturbed for at least 6 hours, or overnight for best results.
  • Carefully remove the seashells from the solution.
  • Let them dry on a clean surface. Pat them gently with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Notes

Customize shapes with different creative forms using pipe cleaners, and experiment with color combinations for unique effects. Ensure your water is free from dust or debris for clearer crystals.
