Ingredients

  • 1 cup Borax
  • 2 cups Water (boiling) Ensure the water is boiling before mixing.
  • various colors Pipe cleaners Choose colors based on your design preferences.
  • 1 piece String or fishing line
  • 1 piece Pencil or stick Used for hanging the stars.
  • 1 piece Glass jar or container (heatproof) Ensure it can withstand hot temperatures.
  • optional Food coloring Add for a colorful effect.
  • 1 dish Dish for cooling To catch any overflow.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Shape your stars by twisting pipe cleaners into a star shape, ensuring the points are sharp for better crystal growth.
  • Leave a small loop at the top of the star for hanging.

Making the Borax Solution

  • Boil 2 cups of water in a pot.
  • Stir in 1 cup of Borax until it is fully dissolved and the solution is clear.

Adding Color (Optional)

  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir.

Immersion

  • Carefully place the pipe cleaner stars into the Borax solution, ensuring they are fully covered.
  • Lay the pencil across the top of the jar, allowing the star to dangle in the solution.

Waiting for Crystals

  • Allow the jar to sit undisturbed overnight.

Removal and Drying

  • After 24 hours, carefully remove your crystal stars from the solution.
  • Place them on a cooling dish and let them air dry for a few hours.

Notes

Customize shapes, use different colors, try various containers for different crystal formations, and add glitter for extra sparkle.
