Ingredients
  

Crystal Formation Materials

  • 1 cup Borax (sodium borate) Essential for crystal growth.
  • 3 cups hot water Boiling water is required.
  • 1 piece string or pipe cleaner Use for suspending in the solution.
  • 1 piece pencil or small stick For suspending the string.
  • as needed food coloring (optional) To add color to your crystals.
  • 1 each measuring cups and spoon For measurement and stirring.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Boil 3 cups of water.
  • Measure 1 cup of Borax and gradually add it to the hot water.
  • Stir the mixture until the Borax is fully dissolved.

Set Up Your Crystal Molds

  • Tie a small knot at one end of the string and attach it to a pencil or stick, allowing the string to hang down.
  • Shape pipe cleaners into fun designs and place them in the jar.

Pour and Wait

  • Carefully pour the Borax solution into the jar, making sure the string or pipe cleaner is submerged.
  • Place the jar in a quiet area where it won’t be disturbed.

Observe the Magic

  • Observe the crystals forming over the next few hours. Be patient; the best results often come overnight.
  • After about 24 hours, gently remove the crystals from the jar and let them dry.

Notes

To customize your crystals, mix in a few drops of food coloring or essential oils for scent. Try different shapes with pipe cleaners to see which forms the best crystals.
