Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 0.5 cups corn syrup
  • 0.25 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon bubblegum flavoring (or flavor of choice)
  • 0.5 teaspoon citric acid Can substitute with lemon juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Add in increments to prevent sticking
  • Food coloring (optional) For color variations

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, mix 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup of corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of water.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

Cooking

  • Use the cooking thermometer to check the temperature.
  • Once the mixture reaches 240°F (115°C), remove it from heat.
  • Quickly stir in 1 teaspoon of bubblegum flavoring, 1/2 teaspoon of citric acid, and any food coloring if desired. The mixture should become thick and glossy.

Shaping

  • Carefully pour the gum onto a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Allow it to cool for a minute; avoid touching hot sugar!
  • Once it’s bearable to touch, knead the gum for a few minutes until it becomes pliable.
  • Add 1 cup of powdered sugar a little at a time to prevent sticking.
  • Shape your gum into pieces or fun shapes as desired.
  • Allow them to set for a few hours before enjoying.

Notes

Experiment with different extracts for unique flavors and add fun elements like sprinkles or candy pieces for extra flair. Store in an airtight container to keep fresh for up to two weeks.
