Preparation

  • Dust your work area with cornstarch to prevent the gum from sticking.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the gum base, corn syrup, and flavoring extract.
  • Microwave for about 30 seconds or until the gum base becomes soft and pliable.

Adding Sugar

  • Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave and add powdered sugar gradually, mixing well after each addition.
  • Once the mixture becomes too hard to stir with a spoon, switch to using your hands.

Kneading

  • Knead the mixture until it is smooth and elastic.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and continue kneading until evenly incorporated.

Shaping

  • Shape the gum into a ball or roll it out to cut into pieces.
  • Store your homemade bubble gum in an airtight container to keep it fresh.

Notes

You can experiment with different extracts for flavor, use various food colorings, and adjust sweetness by modifying corn syrup. Adding small bits of dried fruits or edible glitter is also a fun twist.
