Main Materials

  • 1 batch Bubble solution (store-bought or homemade) For homemade, mix 1 part dish soap with 6 parts water and add corn syrup.
  • a few drops Food coloring or liquid watercolors Any color of your choice.
  • 1-2 pieces Straws For blowing bubbles.
  • 1 sheet White or heavy paper/cardstock Choose paper that can hold water without warping.
  • 1 Optional: cookie sheet or shallow tray To catch overflow from bubbles.
  • 1 Optional: gloves and apron To protect clothing.

Instructions

Preparation

  • If using homemade bubble solution, mix together 1 part dish soap with 6 parts water and add a splash of corn syrup to help the bubbles last longer.
  • In a separate container, mix some bubble solution with a few drops of food coloring, swirling gently to avoid foam.
  • Place your paper on a flat surface or inside a cookie sheet to catch any overflow from the bubbles.

Bubble Blowing

  • Dip a straw into the colored bubble solution and gently blow to create bubbles above the paper. Experiment with how hard you blow to control the size.
  • As the bubbles float onto the paper, watch them pop! The burst will leave colorful imprints, creating a unique pattern.

Finishing Up

  • Allow your artwork to dry completely before displaying it. This usually takes a couple of hours.

Notes

You can swap colors, add glitter for a shimmering effect, or use textured paper for more rugged designs.
