Setup Materials

  • Large tray or baking sheet To catch spills.
  • Plastic bottle or container Serve as the volcano.
  • Ice Ice blocks or cups create the mountain effect.

Instructions
 

Prepare Your Base

  • Place the plastic bottle or container in the center of a large tray or baking sheet to catch any spills.
  • Arrange ice blocks or cups around the top of the container to create a frozen mountain effect.

Create the Bubbling Mixture

  • In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of dish soap. Stir well to combine.
  • Introduce a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda mixture for an eye-catching result.

Let the Eruption Begin!

  • Carefully add the baking soda mixture into the container.
  • Slowly pour vinegar into the container and watch as a colorful, bubbling eruption occurs!
  • Observe the reaction, smell the vinegar, and take in the vivid colors as the mixture froths over the ice.
