Creating the Suncatcher

  • Start by drawing a butterfly shape on a piece of paper. Use gentle curves, letting your pencil flow.
  • Cut out the butterfly shape carefully. Set this aside.
  • Take a piece of contact paper and peel one side slowly.
  • Lay the butterfly shape on the sticky side of the contact paper. Trace around it lightly to create a border.
  • Tear or cut the colored tissue paper into small squares or shapes.
  • Start placing the colored tissue paper on top of the butterfly shape, layering them into colorful sections.
  • Once you're happy with your design, place another sheet of contact paper on top to seal in your butterfly.
  • Cut out the butterfly again with the contact paper double-layered to protect your colors.
  • Finally, hang your butterfly suncatcher in a window where light can pass through.

Notes

To ensure your butterfly suncatcher lasts, store it with care when not in use. If needed, remove it from the window and place it between sheets of wax paper to prevent creasing.
