  • 1 stick Glue stick or liquid glue Choose safe, child-friendly glue.
  • 1 optional Googly eyes For added decoration.
  • 1 optional Glitter or stickers Optional decorative items.
  • 1 piece Pencil For drawing the fish template.
  • 1 optional Template of a fish outline Can be printed or drawn on cardboard.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lay down some newspaper or a craft mat to protect your surfaces.
  • Gather all your materials to keep everything within reach.

Creating the Fish Template

  • If using a template, print it out or draw a simple fish shape on a piece of cardboard.
  • Alternatively, draw a fish directly on the cardboard.

Cutting the Fish

  • Carefully use scissors to cut out the fish shape.
  • Encourage children to help with this step, promoting their cutting skills!

Decorating Your Fish

  • Use paint or markers to decorate your fish.
  • Highlight textures and patterns like scales to make it more realistic.
  • Add googly eyes and stickers for extra flair.

Drying Time

  • Allow the fish to dry completely if using paint or glue.
  • During this waiting time, children can think of names for their fish or create a backstory.

Displaying Your Creation

  • Once dry, find a special spot to hang or display the finished fish.
  • Take pictures to document the crafting experience.

Notes

Use different types of cardboard for varied textures and swap paint with colored tissue paper. Add fins and tails using additional cardboard scraps for more dimension.
