Ingredients

  • 5-10 CDs Old CDs Old CDs can be sourced from your collection or thrift stores.
  • 1 roll Twine or fishing line Choose a durable option for best results.
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the twine or fishing line.
  • 1 tool Drill or hole punch To create holes in the CDs.
  • 1 set Paint or markers Optional for decorating the CDs.
  • optional various Beads and other embellishments Personalize your chime with various decorative items.
  • 1 item A sturdy frame or stick To hang the chimes.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Clean the surface of the CDs with a soft cloth.
  • If desired, paint or decorate the CD surfaces, allowing them to dry completely.

Create Holes

  • Use a drill or hole punch to create holes in the center and edges of each CD.
  • Make sure the holes are large enough for the twine or fishing line to pass through.

Cut the Twine

  • Cut several lengths of twine or fishing line, each about 18-24 inches long.

Assemble the Chimes

  • Thread a piece of twine through the hole of a CD and tie a knot to secure it.
  • Add beads or other embellishments as desired, then tie a knot at the end to keep them in place.

Connect the Chimes

  • Repeat the process for all CDs, making sure they are at varying lengths for a cascading effect.
  • Attach the other ends of the twine to a central frame or stick, spacing them evenly.

Hang Your Creation

  • Find a suitable location outdoors, and hang your wind chime securely using the frame or stick.

Notes

Color Themes: Use spray paint or washi tape for a specific color scheme. Consider combining with additional materials like metal washers or seashells for a unique sound. Experiment with the number of CDs and their sizes to adjust the sound.
