  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons black food coloring (optional) For a chalkboard effect
  • Chalk for drawing Regular sidewalk or classroom chalk

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add black food coloring if desired.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients gradually, stirring until a dough begins to form. Knead the mixture with your hands until smooth and pliable.

Storage

  • If not using immediately, wrap the dough in plastic wrap and store it in an airtight container to keep it fresh.

Creative Play

  • Roll out the dough and use chalk to draw your favorite designs, letters, or shapes. Experiment with different shapes or cut-out decorations.

Notes

For longer-lasting dough, bake the shaped designs at a low temperature (around 200°F) for a firmer texture. Consider adding different textures with sand or glitter for enhanced sensory play.
