Instructions

Preparation

  • Find a clean, flat surface to spread out your materials.
  • Lay down newspaper or a plastic sheet to protect the area from glue spills.

Mix Your Colors

  • Pour small amounts of clear glue into cups or containers.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolors to each cup.
  • Stir well to create the desired hues.

Create Your Design

  • Take your plastic sheet or wax paper and lay it flat.
  • Use your paintbrush or pipette to apply the colored glue in patterns.
  • Experiment with shapes, swirls, or even abstract designs—texture is key!

Add Extra Touches

  • If desired, sprinkle glitter or add beads while the glue is still wet for extra sparkle.

Allow to Dry

  • Let your suncatcher dry completely, preferably overnight. The glue will become clear and rigid.

Cut and Hang

  • Once dry, carefully cut around your design.
  • Make a small hole at the top, thread with string or ribbon, and hang it in a sunny spot!

Notes

Color Swaps: Experiment with different types of colors; try pastels or even neon shades for various effects. Material Alternatives: Instead of wax paper, use a piece of an old CD or a thin plastic lid. Shape Templates: Use cookie cutters or templates for creating specific shapes within your suncatcher. Layering: Create multiple layers for a more intricate design by letting one layer dry before adding another.
