Craft Materials

  • 1 bottle Clear glue Easy to find at craft stores
  • 1 pack Liquid watercolors or food coloring Use bright and vibrant colors
  • 1 sheet Wax paper or plastic sheet To create a smooth surface
  • 2 pieces Small containers For mixing colors
  • 1 piece Popsicle stick or spoon To stir the mixture
  • 1 pair Scissors For trimming the final piece
  • Optional Glitter or fine salt For added sparkle

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by preparing your workspace. Lay out the wax paper or plastic sheet, creating a smooth surface to work on.
  • Pour a small amount of clear glue into your mixing container.
  • Add a few drops of your chosen liquid watercolor or food coloring into the glue.
  • Stir slowly with the popsicle stick or spoon until the colors deepen and transform.

Creating Shapes

  • Use your stick to create shapes directly on the wax paper. Let go of the need for perfection and form circles, hearts, or freeform designs.
  • If desired, sprinkle a hint of glitter or fine salt over the wet glue for added sparkle.

Drying and Finishing

  • Allow your crafted suncatcher to dry completely, which may take several hours or overnight.
  • Once dry, gently peel your suncatcher from the wax paper.
  • Trim any excess edges with scissors, shaping it to your liking.
  • Finally, find a sunny spot in your home to hang your suncatcher and admire the way it catches the light.

Notes

Consider placing your suncatcher in a window that faces the rising sun for the best effect. Each piece serves as a reminder of your creative time.
