Craft Materials
- 1 bottle Clear glue Use clear glue for the best finish.
- 3-5 sheets Colored tissue paper Any colors can be used for the turtle shell.
- 1 sheet Black construction paper Used for the turtle outline.
- 1 sheet Transparent plastic sheet or wax paper Serves as the base for applying the glue and tissue.
- 1 nd Paintbrush (optional) For applying glue.
- 1 nd Craft sponge (optional) Also for applying glue.
- 1 nd Glitter (optional) For extra sparkle on the suncatcher.
- as needed nd Water For diluting glue if desired.
Instructions
Preparation
- Draw or print a turtle shape on black construction paper and cut it out.
- Lay down newspaper or a plastic covering on your workspace to catch any spills.
Application
- Pour clear glue into a small bowl, mixing with a bit of water for a smoother application if desired.
- Using a paintbrush or sponge, apply a thin layer of glue onto the plastic sheet or wax paper.
- Tear or cut colored tissue paper into small pieces and place them onto the wet glue to create the turtle shell and other details.
- Gently dab more glue over the tissue pieces if needed.
- For extra sparkle, sprinkle glitter over the wet glue and tissue pieces, allowing it to adhere.
Drying and Displaying
- Set the suncatcher aside to dry completely (approximately 2-4 hours).
- Once dry, carefully peel the suncatcher off the plastic/wax paper and display it in a window where sunlight can shine through.
Notes
Consider using different shapes for variety, adding textures like sequins or beads, and changing colors for seasonal themes. Clear glue gives a better finish than regular craft glue.
