Ingredients

Main materials

  • 2-3 pieces Coffee filters Easy to find at grocery stores
  • 1 piece Scissors Any type will do
  • optional amount Acrylic paint or food coloring For added color
  • 1 piece Paintbrush Optional for painting
  • 1 bottle Glue White school glue works well
  • 1-2 pieces Pipe cleaners For stems; optional
  • 1 container Small container or jar For displaying your flowers

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by stacking two or three coffee filters. This will create a fuller flower.
  • Cut a circle from the stacked filters. It doesn’t need to be perfect; organic shapes often have their charm.
  • If you want to add color, gently brush the edges with acrylic paint or food coloring and let the colors blend and spread.
  • Once dry, pinch the center of the circle and twist it gently to form a cone shape.
  • Pull and separate the layers outward, creating petals.
  • For added stability, glue the base of the flower to secure it in place.
  • If using a pipe cleaner for the stem, insert it into the base of the flower and twist it to secure.
  • Finally, place your flower in a small container or jar filled with grains, stones, or simply left as is.

Notes

For a rustic feel, consider experimenting with different shapes for petals. Try using natural dyes from fruits or vegetables for a deeper connection with earthy materials. Each flower is unique; embrace the variations in your creations.
