Ingredients

Craft Supplies

  • 10 pieces Coffee filters (white or natural) Used as the base for flowers.
  • 1 set Water-based markers (various colors) For coloring the filters.
  • 1 cup Small cups of water or a spray bottle For the watercolor technique.
  • 5 pieces Pipe cleaners (green for stems) Used as the stems for the flowers.
  • 1 pair Safety scissors To be used under adult supervision.
  • 1 tray A small tray or surface for coloring To keep the workspace tidy.
  • optional to taste Glitter or sequins For additional decoration.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Lay out the coffee filters flat on a tray.
  • Allow children to use the markers to color the filters freely, creating swirls, dots, or solid patches.
  • Once the coloring is done, drift a small amount of water over the filters to blend the colors.

Creating the Flowers

  • After the filters dry, pick them up and gently crumple them at the center to create the bloom shape.
  • Insert a pipe cleaner into the center of the crumpled filter and secure it beneath to form the stem.
  • Encourage the child to make several flowers and arrange them together in a small vase.

Notes

Store completed flowers in a cool, dry place. To preserve their charm, consider redesigning them with new colors or decorations over time.
