Creating the Flowers

  • Begin by selecting your colors. Take a few coffee filters and lay them out flat.
  • Gently color the coffee filters with the markers, experimenting with techniques like blending or dotting.
  • Once colored, spritz the filters lightly with water and watch as the colors bleed together.
  • After the filters dry, stack three or more filters on top of each other.
  • Pinch the center of the stack and fold it upward to create a bud.
  • Twist a pipe cleaner or floral wire around the base to secure the folds.
  • Carefully shape the petals by gently pulling them apart.
  • Create multiple flowers using a variety of colors and sizes.

Notes

Store coffee filter flowers in a shaded spot or in a simple container to maintain their shape. You can refresh them with new colors over time.
