Ingredients

Rose Materials

  • 5-8 pieces Coffee filters (brown or white, your choice)
  • 1 piece Green floral wire Easy to find
  • 1 piece Scissors For shaping petals
  • 1 piece A paintbrush or sponge If dyeing
  • 1 cup Food coloring or watercolor Optional for color
  • 1-2 cups Water For dyeing
  • 1 piece A small cup or plate To hold dye
  • 1 piece Hot glue gun For securing the petals
  • optional Beads or embellishments For decoration

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by flattening several coffee filters. Use about 5 to 8 filters for one rose, depending on the fullness you desire.
  • If you want to color the filters, create your dye by mixing water with a few drops of food coloring or watercolor in a small bowl.
  • Dip your brush or sponge into the dye and lightly dab the filters, covering them with soft, broad strokes. Let the colors blend, creating a gentle gradient.
  • Allow the dyed filters to dry completely. You can hang them up or lay them flat, enjoying the soft aroma of coffee as they dry.

Assembly

  • Once dry, stack the filters, aligning them neatly. You might choose a range of shades for a beautiful gradient effect.
  • Pinch the center of the stack and twist gently to form the petals. This motion creates a form that resembles a natural flower.
  • Cut a length of floral wire, about 12 inches long. Wrap it tightly around the base of the petals, anchoring them in place.
  • For added texture, gently pull and shape each petal upwards, giving your rose a more lifelike appearance.
  • Once you are satisfied with the shape, apply a small amount of hot glue at the base, securing the formation.
  • As a finishing touch, you can embellish your rose with beads or additional layers of filters for even more depth.

Notes

Store the coffee filter roses in a dry place, away from direct sunlight to maintain their color and form. Refresh their look by gently reshaping any petals that may have flattened.
