Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 10-15 pieces Coffee filters Depending on your rose size.
  • 1 piece Scissors For smooth, gentle cuts.
  • 1 piece Green floral wire Easy to bend and shape.
  • 1 piece Tape or glue For securing your flowers.

Optional Ingredients

  • as needed drops Food coloring or watercolor To add gentle hues.
  • as desired tablespoons Glitter If you’re feeling whimsical.

Instructions

Making the Roses

  • Begin by stacking several coffee filters on top of each other. About five filters will usually make a nice, full rose.
  • Cut the edges of the stacked filters into a soft, rounded shape. This doesn’t have to be perfect, as the natural irregularity adds charm.
  • Hold the center of the filters and gently pinch it together to form the heart of the rose.
  • Begin wrapping the petals around this center, starting at the base. You don’t have to rush; let your fingers feel the delicate textures.
  • Attach each petal carefully with tape or glue as you shape the flower. Imagine wrapping a tender embrace around the center.
  • Once the flower takes shape, cut a piece of floral wire. This will serve as the stem. Insert the wire into the base of your flower and secure it gently.
  • If you’d like to add color, prepare a wash of diluted food coloring or watercolor. Dip the tips of the petals and watch the hues blend softly into the white.
  • Allow your roses to dry naturally, taking in the scents and colors as they develop.
  • You may choose to create leaves from green coffee filters, shaping them in the same way. Attach them to the stem, letting them offer a grounding contrast to the soft, blooming petals.

Enjoying Your Creation

  • Once your coffee filter roses bloom into existence, they bring a lovely charm to your space. Place them in a simple vase on your table or counter.
  • You can also create a small bouquet by making multiple roses, each in varying shades if you’ve chosen to add color.
  • Visualize these flowers in your home to invite a sense of warmth and calm.

Storage Tips

  • To keep your flowers looking fresh, place them in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight.
  • Consider gently wrapping them in tissue paper or placing them in an airtight container to protect their delicate shapes.
  • You can also transform the roses by adding a touch of color or rearranging them for new decor.

Notes

Each creation is unique and can reflect personal style. Consider experimenting with different types of dye, sizes of filters, and embellishments for added creativity.
