Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup of cornstarch and break up any clumps for a smooth mixture.
  • Pour in 1/2 cup of water and stir slowly until combined. Notice how it feels thick at first!
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and stir to mix evenly.
  • Gently stir in your pH indicator solution and observe the color change based on the pH.
  • Use your hands to press on the oobleck, it should feel solid, and then let it sit to observe it flow like a liquid!

Notes

Customize colors with food coloring for a rainbow effect. Adjust water-to-cornstarch ratio for different textures. Oobleck can be stored in an airtight container for a few days but may need remixing with water.
