Instructions

Prepare the Bioplastic Mixture

  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of cornstarch, 1 cup of water, and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup. Stir until smooth.
  • Place the saucepan on low heat. Continuously stir until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

Add Color

Shape the Suncatchers

  • Lightly spray cookie cutters or molds with non-stick cooking spray for easy removal.
  • Pour the colored bioplastic mixture into the molds, filling them to the top.
  • Use a straw to make holes at the top of each suncatcher if you plan to hang them.

Let Dry

  • Place the molds on a flat surface and let them sit for 24-48 hours, or until fully hardened.
  • Carefully remove the suncatchers from the molds and hang them using string or fishing line.

Notes

Customize colors using natural dyes like beet juice or turmeric. Experiment with different cookie cutter shapes for unique designs. Adding textures like dried flowers or glitter can enhance your suncatchers.
