Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cornstarch Recommended for smooth texture and clarity.
  • 1 cup Water
  • various drops Food coloring Choose your preferred colors.

Tools and Supplies

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper To line the baking sheet.
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon Spoon For mixing.
  • 1 Microwave or stove For heating the mixture.
  • 1 Cookie cutters or molds For shaping the suncatchers.
  • 1 String or wire Optional, for hanging.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cornstarch and 1 cup of water. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  • Divide the mixture into smaller bowls (if using multiple colors). Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until the color is evenly distributed.

Cooking

  • Pour the colored mixtures onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the baking sheet in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, or cook on the stove over low heat, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens.

Shaping

  • As it cools slightly, use cookie cutters or molds to form shapes. Carefully remove excess bioplastic around the shapes and lift them from the baking sheet once cooled completely.

Finishing Touches

  • If you want to hang your suncatchers, poke a small hole at the top and thread a piece of string or wire through.

Notes

Customize colors by varying drops of food coloring or use natural dyes like beet juice, turmeric, or spinach. Store away from direct sunlight and moisture for longer life.
